Synthetic turf does not have to be green. We also stock a range of coloured turf options, perfect for creating custom designs, sporting areas, play spaces and other applications. Despite what you might think, court lines are not painted on. The lines are actually cut into the surface using a different coloured turf, making them a permanent part of the finished surface.

How do I get a quote?

Is the quote fixed, or can the price go up once you start?
The quote is the price. We work out the access, the ground conditions and everything required before we give you a fixed price.
Note: Any changes made to the area measured between the day of the quote and the day of installation may incur additional costs.

How much does a synthetic turf installation cost?
Every project is unique. Are there any stairs? Will a wheelbarrow fit? Is the only access through your house? Are we just removing grass and soil, or are we removing rocks and pavers? Your turf style chosen? Will your area require crane access? Do you require your installation on a weekend or public holiday?
These are all factors that affect pricing, as well as the size of the area and how much preparation the existing surface requires.
Once we have assessed and measured the area, you will receive a fixed price on the spot.

Can I get a price on the spot?
Yes, of course. If a company cannot give you a fixed price on the spot, ask yourself why. An experienced synthetic turf professional should be able to assess the site, measure the area, understand exactly what is required and price the job while they are there.
We know your time is valuable and appreciate you setting time aside to meet us in person. That is why we give you the courtesy of providing your fixed price on the spot, not leaving you waiting days or weeks for a quote.

Is the consultation free?
Yes. The site visit, the measure-up, the recommendation and the quote cost you nothing and commit you to nothing.

Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, we do. Ask us when we quote and we will talk you through the available payment options.

Who will I actually be dealing with?
You will be dealing with Synthetic Turf Sydney’s owner, Roger Smith, from start to finish. One phone number for the whole job. We do not send a sales rep and then bounce you between the rep and the office.

Do you cover my area?
We work right across Sydney, and further afield if requested. We would rather you ask than assume you are out of range. The jobs in our gallery range from Wagga Wagga to Orange, Newcastle and all across Sydney.
Difficult access & tricky sites

My site is hard to get to. Can you still do it?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. Rooftops, podium levels, balconies, terraces, narrow side lanes, steep blocks and back gardens with no vehicle access are normal jobs for us rather than exceptions. Access is the first thing we work out on the site visit, and it is priced into the quote.

How do you get turf onto a rooftop or an upper-level terrace?
Whatever the site needs. On multi-level and high-rise jobs that usually means the materials are craned up, with the street work and traffic control arranged around it; on tighter residential sites it means carrying it in and cutting to fit on site. Either way the logistics are ours to sort out, not yours.

Can synthetic turf go on a balcony or rooftop?
Yes. Synthetic turf is an excellent way to transform balconies and rooftops into a more usable and inviting outdoor space. It can be installed directly over many existing surfaces, is low maintenance, drains efficiently and gives the area a softer, greener and more comfortable finish.

What surfaces can it be laid on?
Concrete, pavers, tiles, timber decking and rooftop surfaces. Most residential projects are installed in existing lawn areas, where the existing lawn is removed and we install a new blue metal crusher dust base. The preparation differs for each, and working that out is part of what the site visit is for.

Do you remove the old lawn or surface?
Yes. Taking out what is there, preparing the base and disposing the waste off site are all part of the job and part of the quoted price.

Will water drain away, or will it pool?
Synthetic turf is designed to allow water to drain through it. On lawn installations, water drains through the turf and the prepared base into the ground below. On balconies, rooftops, concrete and tiled areas, water passes through the turf and follows the existing fall of the surface to the existing drainage points.
If we identify an existing drainage issue when we inspect the area, we will discuss it with you before installation.

Will it look like real grass?
Yes, absolutely it will. Our turf uses multiple natural green tones combined with a realistic thatch layer to replicate the look and feel of real grass. Once professionally installed by Synthetic Turf Sydney, it gives you a natural-looking lawn without the mowing, watering or ongoing maintenance.
We will bring our full range of turf samples to your quote so you can see and feel each option in person and choose the style that best suits your property.

Which turf should I choose?
It depends on what the area will be used for and the look and feel you prefer. Collaroy 40mm and Hyde Park 40mm are soft, natural-looking options for lawns, backyards and gardens. STS Putting Turf is designed specifically for putting greens, STS Tennis Pro for tennis courts, STS Slam Dunk for basketball courts, and STS Commercial is suitable for pickleball courts, commercial applications and high-traffic areas.
We bring samples of our turf range with us, so you can see and feel the different options in person before deciding which one is right for your area.

Is it safe for dogs?
Yes. It is pet-friendly, 8 out of 10 residential projects have dogs.

How do you manage pet odours?
For homes with dogs, we use ZeoFill infill, a world-leading odour-control technology for synthetic turf. It naturally absorbs ammonia from pet urine, helping reduce unpleasant odours and keep your lawn fresher for longer.

Is it safe for children and play areas?
Yes. We install in schools, playgrounds and strata common areas as well as private backyards. There are examples in the Commercial & Strata section of the gallery.

Does it get hot in the sun?
Like any outdoor surface, synthetic turf will heat up in direct summer sun and will be warmer underfoot than natural grass. It cools down quickly with a light hose or once it is out of direct sunlight. The benefit is that unlike natural grass, the heat will not damage or kill it, and it stays green all year round.

Can you design and install a putting green, tennis court or basketball court?

Installation, care & warranty

How long will my installation take?
Every installation is different depending on the size of the area, access and preparation required. Once we have inspected and measured your area, we will tell you exactly how long your installation is expected to take. Most residential installations are completed within a few days.

What if it is raining on the day of my installation?
The last thing we want to do is reschedule an installation unless it is absolutely necessary. That is why, regardless of the weather forecast, in nearly all cases we wait until the morning of your installation and assess the weather conditions then.
If the weather prevents us from completing your installation, we reschedule all affected jobs in their original booking order. This means your place in the schedule is maintained and you do not go to the back of the queue.

What maintenance does it need?
Very little. Simply remove leaves and debris when needed with a leaf blower or plastic rake, and give the turf an occasional brush to keep the fibres standing upright. If it gets dirty, it can be easily rinsed down with water. Hot soapy water will remove any food stains. If you have dogs, clean up as normal. That is about it.

How long does it last?
Our synthetic turf is made for demanding Australian conditions and is built to last for many years. Every turf style in our range is backed by a 10-year product warranty against fading and deterioration. With Synthetic Turf Sydney’s professional installation and normal care, you can expect your turf to look great well beyond the warranty period.

What does the 10-year warranty cover?
Our 10-year product warranty covers excessive fading and deterioration of the synthetic turf. Every turf style in our range is covered, giving you peace of mind knowing we have been using the same turf for over 15 years.

Are you insured?
Yes. Synthetic Turf Sydney is fully insured, including $20 million Public Liability Insurance and Workers Compensation Insurance. Certificates of Currency can be provided when required for strata, commercial, school and other managed sites.

Yes. We regularly complete synthetic turf installations for strata properties, commercial sites, schools, apartment buildings, rooftop areas, common areas, playgrounds and display areas.
We are experienced with site inductions, building management requirements, access arrangements and working within occupied residential and commercial properties.
